MIRRORED WOUNDS

Mirrored Wounds by Rebecca Christo

Laura’s life was finally good. She’d freed herself from the clutches of an abusive partner, left an unrewarding career as an interior designer to follow her dreams of becoming a writer, and was finally happy. And things were only getting better. Her very first novel had struck a chord with readers and become a bestseller, but when the murder she’d described in its pages suddenly gets played out in real life, with her beloved husband as the victim, it is obvious to her that she looks guilty, despite having an alibi that would have been difficult to fake.

As the investigation proceeds, with little or no progress being made, bizarre happenings in the security-protected home she’d shared with her husband have her questioning her own sanity, despite the reassurance of her therapist. Could she have murdered the first man to ever make her feel truly loved and secure and then just … forgotten somehow? Surely not. But as even more troubling events come to light, with no logical explanation besides her own guilt, she finds herself questioning everything she knows to be true … including her own innocence.

OUR TOXIC TRAITS

Our Toxic Traits by Rebecca Christo
He noticed her first, a bright flicker of colour cutting through the rush of a New York morning. Later, after following her long enough to memorize her routines and the steady rhythm of her days, he would finally learn her name: Jill Davis. She’s everything he’s not; sweet, kind, and untouched by the darkness and corruption he sees every day. Watching her is his escape, until it becomes something more sinister.
When Jill accepts a new client to her roster as a private dog walker, a world of opportunities opens to her. She suddenly finds herself surrounded by attention, stepping into a life of luxury, and enjoying a welcome break from her ordinary routine, even though a serial killer is still on the loose. The illusion of perfection is shattered when someone is murdered at a Halloween party she is attending.
In the midst of all of this, her new client has to leave town unexpectedly, and offers her a high-paying job house-sitting on the Upper East Side. The only catch is that it’s in the same building as the recent murder.
Jill decides she can’t turn down that big of a payday, and accepts the offer, despite feeling uneasy. As she navigates her complicated new life, she untangles a web of secrets, deceit, and hidden resentments. With mounting suspense and shocking twists, this novel explores the dark side of ambition, the fragility of trust, and the lengths people will go to protect their carefully constructed lives. Can Jill unmask the killer before she becomes the next victim? In a city where appearances are everything, Our Toxic Traits delves into obsession, privilege, and the dangerous line between admiration and control.
